I employ a variety of techniques to cater to different learning styles. Spaced repetition ensures continuous reinforcement, while recall exercises encourage active engagement. A typical session involves a top-down overview to establish context, bottom-up chunking for in-depth understanding, and verbal and written processing to reinforce learning. I also prioritize explaining complex material back to ensure clarity.
Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Review: Briefly revisit previous topics to reinforce foundational knowledge.
2. Top-Down Overview: Provide an overarching understanding of the lesson to set the stage.
3. Bottom-Up Chunking: Break down the lesson into digestible segments, fostering in-depth comprehension.
4. Verbal and Written Processing: Engage students in discussions and written exercises to reinforce learning.
5. Explaining Material Back: Encourage students to articulate concepts in their own words for better retention.
6. Take Breaks: Spacing learning into 25 min intervals and allowing for breaks and light physical activity allows for better learning by utilizing the diffuse mode network of the brain and allows the student to relax and have fun.
