About Sofia
Hi, my name is Sofia. I have experience teaching chess and enjoy helping beginners understand the game in a simple and patient way. I started competing in tournaments in 2023 and have continued to improve each year. My achievements include placing 4th in the Canadian Youth Chess Championship (CYCC) in 2023, winning the BC Youth Chess Championship U10 (BCYCC) in 2024, competing in the North American Youth Chess Championship (NAYCC), winning the BC Women’s Chess Championship in 2025, and winning the BC Youth Chess Championship U12 (BCYCC) in 2026.

Hi, I’m Sofia, a 12-year-old chess player with a CFC rating of 1707. I teach beginner players with ratings from 0–800, especially young children aged 3–7. My lessons are online via Zoom and are 1 hour long, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. I focus on making chess fun, simple, and easy to understand while helping students build strong fundamentals, confidence, and better thinking skills step by step.
