My Approach as a Tutor
My approach to tutoring is centered on building confidence, strengthening foundational skills, and making learning feel achievable and even enjoyable. As a certified teacher with experience in upper elementary, I understand how to break down concepts in a way that meets each student where they are.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and gradual release to help students truly understand—not just memorize—skills. I focus heavily on identifying gaps and addressing them in a supportive, low-pressure environment. I also incorporate hands-on activities, real-world examples, and discussion to keep students engaged and thinking critically.
For reading and math especially, I emphasize:
Strong foundational skills
Repetition with purpose
Encouraging students to explain their thinking

A typical session includes:
Quick review/warm-up of previous skills
Introduction or reinforcement of a target skill
Guided practice with support and feedback
Independent practice to build confidence
Wrap-up with a quick check for understanding and encouragement
