About Will
Hi, I'm Will, a Slade graduate and multi-exhibited artist-filmmaker working across fine art and moving image. I studied Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, where I achieved a First for my studio practice, and I’m currently completing an MA in Feature Filmmaking, on track for a Distinction. My work has been screened at BAFTA-qualifying festivals and internationally, including at Harvard University, where I also spoke on a panel discussion about the work. I was also awarded a Distinction for my Art Foundation.
While at the Slade I also worked as an assisstant for the admissions panels, and as an assistant to the lead gallery technician, so I had an inside look at the admissions processes and expectations.
I'd love to help you find your creative voice. Chances are, it's already there, it just needs a little help coming through loud and clear. I'll show you how the freedom of art education can be exciting, not anxiety making. Through creating art works in many mediums, and written, directed, and edited films, I've gained a strong understanding of how ideas, form, and presentation operate across different media and contexts.
Whether you’re preparing a portfolio, developing a project, or trying to articulate your ideas clearly for an application or assessment, my aim is to help you arrive at work that feels coherent, intentional, and genuinely your own.

I offer one-to-one online tutoring and mentoring for art and design students. Sessions are tailored to your needs, interests and goals, and can support you with:
- Portfolio development for Foundation, BA, or MA applications
- Ongoing project development and critique during Foundation, BA, or MA
- Coursework support and assessment preparation
- Understanding contemporary art practice and critical thinking
- Application advice, interviews, and personal statements
- Professional development and next steps beyond education
Lessons are structured but we can be flexible: we’ll look closely at your work, discuss ideas and intentions, and identify clear, practical steps to strengthen what you’re making, depending on your learning style.
The aim is to help you make clearer decisions about your work, and communicate about it in a confident way. I also adapt sessions to suit different ways of thinking and working, including for neurodivergent students.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I have worked as a technician in education for many years, and have observed tutoring sessions – large group, small group and one-to-one, almost every day over the whole of that time. When a good tutoring session is in progress, it is clear to see the positivity which is both generating progress and building confidence towards the desired outcome. This seems to be almost an intangible quality, but it originates from the dedication and concentration of a good tutor. This is the quality which Will has; added to which, from my observation, he has an adaptability for helping different age groups with differing areas of knowledge, in accordance with both the immediate and the overall objective of the sessions given.
Will is a talented filmmaker, artist and musician. He and I have worked on a number of film projects over the last 10 years, that have reached audiences around the world. He is highly knowledgeable, skilled, patient, and a great teacher and person.
I have known Will for over 20 years and he is dedicated to quality and integrity in the artistic sphere. He has an eye for detail and possesses great skill in inspiring collaborators to make improvements in their work thanks to his precise feedback. Will is able to use praise and constructive criticism to realise the potential in projects and has a proven track record of success. He has the ability to broaden horizons, and the scope of projects, using his wide knowledge of a variety of artistic fields; particularly cinema and performance art. I am personally hoping to work with Will again on future projects and learn from him further.
I'm delighted to recommend Will, a highly skilled and dedicated tutor in art and design. I met him 15 years ago at a Werner Herzog masterclass, and I've had the pleasure of working with him on a documentary project. What struck me then, and continues to impress me, is Will's passion, dedication, and seriousness about his work and art. He's honest, hardworking, kind, and patient – making him an outstanding mentor for students of art and design.
His profound knowledge in the field is matched by his broad interests in cinema, literature, and music, allowing him to weave together diverse threads of inspiration to enrich his teaching. As someone who has lectured in art and architecture for the past 18 years, I recognise the qualities that make a truly effective tutor, and Will definitely embodies these qualities! I have no doubt that his students will benefit greatly from his guidance and expertise. I highly recommend Will for tutorials and support in art and design.View more recommendations
