About James
I’m a professional vocalist, director and coach, with a particular focus on acting through song, musical theatre performance, and drama school audition preparation. I hold a Diploma in Voice for Music Theatre Performance from the London College of Music and have a First Class Honours degree in Theatre.
I continue to work professionally across performance and direction, and bring that practical insight into every session I lead. My recent credits include directing NewsRevue in the West End — the world’s longest-running live comedy show — and performing with the London Musical Theatre Chorus (Love Never Dies in Concert, Theatre Royal Drury Lane).

My coaching is tailored for actor-singers, musical theatre performers, and those preparing for auditions, performances, or drama school entrance. I focus on helping you connect truthfully to material, shape bold and grounded performances, and sing with clarity, technique, and intention.
Sessions may explore repertoire selection, interpretation, vocal phrasing, monologue/song pairing, movement in performance, and audition readiness — always shaped around your individual goals and experience level. This is not one-size-fits-all coaching — we’ll work to uncover what approaches bring out your best work.
I regularly work with clients applying for foundation, undergraduate and MA-level training, as well as those preparing for performance exams such as LAMDA. Sessions are available as one-offs or as part of a regular coaching process, and typically run for 1hr, 90mins or 2hrs — online, at your home, or in-studio.
Students I’ve coached have gone on to train at schools including Mountview, Oxford School of Drama, Urdang, Performance Preparation Academy, and Drama Centre London.
