About Hazel
I am a singing coach with 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Studies. My teaching approach focuses on balanced vocal training that combines technical precision with artistic expression. I emphasise stylistic versatility, helping students explore genres from classical to contemporary while developing their unique voice.
Improvisation, harmony, ear training, and music theory are integrated into lessons to strengthen both performance skills and musical understanding. I tailor each session to the student’s goals, ensuring that every singer feels challenged yet supported. Vocal exercises are designed to improve tone, range, pitch control, and breath management.
I encourage creativity and expression, helping students interpret songs authentically while maintaining technical accuracy. Repertoire is chosen thoughtfully to develop skill, confidence, and stage presence. I provide practical feedback and strategies for continuous improvement in both practice and performance.
My student-focused approach ensures that every learner progresses at their own pace while enjoying the journey of music. My teaching methodology focuses on developing musicality, pitch control, and emotional expression in every student. For the Advanced Teen, lessons emphasise vocal flexibility, dynamic control, and exploring a wide range of genres to build confidence and versatility. For the Quartet Player, I focus on blending, harmonisation, and adapting individual voice parts to create cohesive ensemble sound.
Both personas work on phrasing, breath management, and expressive interpretation to convey emotion effectively. I incorporate exercises for pitch accuracy and agility, helping students handle complex melodies with ease. Repertoire is selected to challenge technical skills while nurturing musical identity.
Technology is integrated into training: DAWs and vocal apps track pitch, timing, and tone, while metronomes strengthen rhythm and consistency. Students record and review their performances to monitor progress and refine techniques. Improvisation and stylistic adaptation are encouraged to enhance creativity and stage confidence.
Lessons are practical, interactive, and goal-oriented, with feedback tailored to each persona’s strengths and growth areas. By combining technical precision with emotional storytelling, students learn to perform authentically and confidently. The methodology ensures every singer develops both skill and passion for their craft.
