About Pia
For me, teaching piano is about guiding students toward artistic freedom through solid technique and understanding. With a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and 3 years of teaching experience, I specialize in advanced jazz training. I help students prepare for programs at Berklee, Juilliard, and other top conservatories. Lessons focus on improvisation, harmonic complexity, and rhythmic interplay. I teach students how to interpret jazz not just intellectually, but emotionally. My approach emphasizes the language of jazz — its phrasing, tone, and storytelling. Each session blends structure with spontaneity. I challenge students to listen actively and respond creatively. I believe growth happens when curiosity meets discipline. My lessons are designed to inspire confidence and artistic independence. I’m passionate about helping every pianist find their authentic voice. Together, we turn learning into discovery and performance into true expression.

My piano lessons are centered on the art of listening. I help students build the ability to recognize sounds, patterns, and harmonies through ear training. Learning to hear before playing transforms your connection to music. We’ll explore exercises for identifying intervals, chords, and melodies by ear. I also introduce simple techniques to develop relative and perfect pitch. My teaching blends hands-on piano work with deep listening and rhythm training. Every lesson encourages creativity, intuition, and curiosity. I work especially well with students who compose or produce their own music. Together, we’ll explore how to capture what you hear and translate it to the keyboard. The lessons are open to all levels — from beginners to advanced musicians. I keep each session focused, motivating, and fun. Over time, you’ll develop both precision and freedom in your playing. My goal is to help you play what you hear, and hear what you play.
