About Zara

Why I Want to Teach

I enjoy helping people recognize their potential and develop the confidence and skills to achieve it.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting design graduates and emerging professionals in **UX, Human-Centered Design and Service Design**. After more than 10 years working across large enterprise and digital product environments, I want to share the practical knowledge and experience that you don’t always learn through a degree alone.

I want to help students understand **what works, what doesn’t, and why** — from avoiding common product and design failures to identifying quick wins while also building a strong foundation for long-term product success.

My goal is to bridge the gap between **design education and real-world industry practice**. I can share how multidisciplinary teams actually work, how designers collaborate with product managers and developers, how decisions are made, and how HCD can be applied throughout the product lifecycle.

Most importantly, I want to help you understand how to **continue growing and operating as a UX or Product Designer in a constantly changing market**, develop your unique strengths, build a compelling portfolio, and become confident in the value you bring to an organization.

For me, teaching is about sharing knowledge, challenging your thinking, and helping you become a more capable and confident designer.

# My Approach to Teaching

My approach is practical, industry-focused and tailored to your career goals. I help you build the skills, portfolio and mindset needed to work as a product designer in today’s global market.

**1. Assess Your Portfolio**
We start by reviewing your existing portfolio, case studies and experience to understand your strengths and identify areas for improvement.

**2. Refine Your Portfolio for the Global Market**
I help you strengthen your portfolio to meet real-world industry expectations across the US, Australia, New Zealand and European markets, with a focus on demonstrating your thinking, impact and problem-solving rather than simply showing visual design.

**3. Learn Human-Centred Design (HCD)**
Learn how large enterprises use Human-Centred Design frameworks to research, define problems, develop solutions and create meaningful digital products and services.

**4. Understand What Employers Look For**
Learn what employers are looking for in product and UX designers, identify your unique value proposition, and understand how to position your experience effectively.

**5. Learn Modern Design Systems & Development Frameworks**
Understand how design systems, reusable components and development frameworks work together to create scalable digital products.

**6. Learn Agile Product Development**
Understand how designers work within Agile teams, including product discovery, user stories, prioritisation, backlog refinement, collaboration with developers and iterative delivery.

**7. Develop Research, Problem-Solving & UX/UI Skills**
Build practical skills in user research, problem definition, journey mapping, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, usability testing and UI design.

**8. Learn How to Shape Products Using HCD**
Learn how research and user insights translate into product strategy, design decisions and solutions that address genuine customer and business needs.

**9. Understand Product Growth & Customer Experience**
Learn how organisations retain and grow their customer base by understanding customer needs, identifying opportunities and continuously improving digital experiences.

**10. Learn How to Measure Product Performance**
Understand how designers and product teams use data, analytics, research and customer feedback to evaluate outcomes and continuously improve products.

My goal is not simply to teach you how to use design tools. **I want you to understand how successful digital products are researched, designed, developed, launched, measured and continuously improved in the real world.**
