About JP
I am a recording and mixing engineer, multi instrumentalist, a songwriter, and a music technology fanatic. I am studying at Mercy College, with a degree in music technology, and have a deep understanding of music theory, arrangement, signal flow, music production, and all else that could fall under this umbrella. I began playing drums in my schools concert, marching, and jazz band and from then have picked up bass, guitar, keyboards, and any other instrument I can get my hands on! I perform as a bass player and vocalist in a punk rock band, but love the mixing process, often mixing hip hop, from local NY upcoming artists. I often repair gear and have within the past year worked very hard at increasing my soldering skills, as one day I would like to create my own boutique guitar pedals. I write and record my own songs and my latest endeavor has been trying to streamline my efficiency and create songs for sync libraries. Please reach out if you have any questions, I’d love to make your musical journey easier!

Personally I believe that the teaching approaches should be something that is optimized for each individual student. That being said, I personally believe any form of lecture, speech, or form of teaching where an instructor simply hurls concepts at students is ineffective, as a one way dialogue does not truly ensure full understanding and comprehension. I believe that for a student to be successful in their goal of learning content, it is extremely important for a teacher or instructor to maintain an open dialogue with their students. No question is a bad question as if not asked, the student will be misinformed. No thought is a bad thought as it is important to understand how a student interprets a concept, and furthermore, I believe that some of the best learning experiences can come from what may seem like a tangential comment. My primary focus would be to establish open communication, and ensure that the student is aware that I am working FOR them, and cannot be truly satisfied with myself unless I am confident that the student is making progress, is satisfied with that progress, and is comfortable with the learning environment.
