About Sam
I'm a Senior Consultant working in cybersecurity, specializing in GRC and penetration testing assessments for public, private and critical infrastructure sectors. My day-to-day work sits right at the intersection of GRC, Pentesting and cyber advisory, helping organizations meet their regulatory obligations, improve cyber resilience, and manage risk through incident and crisis response exercises.
GRC in particular is under-taught relative to demand. It's often seen as dry or purely theoretical, when it's actually a genuinely interesting and increasingly critical part of cybersecurity, one I hope to demystify for students.
I bring a practical understanding of both the GRC and technical sides of cybersecurity, and I'm committed to helping you build real confidence and understanding, not just get through an exam.

My approach is adaptive rather than one-size-fits-all. Every student has different strengths and gaps, so I start by understanding where you are, then tailor each session to the specific concept, topic or exam area you're working through, adjusting as we go based on how you're tracking.
I bring real-world scenarios into the teaching, drawing on my work running risk and maturity assessments, incident response and crisis exercises, and gap assessments for Australian organisations across Government, Critical Infrastructure and Healthcare. GRC is often taught in the abstract, so I focus on grounding concepts and frameworks in practical context that makes them easier to retain and apply, not just memorise.
Lessons run for 60 minutes, enough time to properly unpack a topic, whether that's working through a governance framework (such as ISO27001, AESCSF or NIST), assessing business risk, or translating technical cyber risk into business impact.
My lessons suit both undergraduate and postgraduate cybersecurity students, whether you're after help understanding a difficult concept, preparing for an exam, or building a genuine practical grasp of GRC and Pentesting that goes beyond the textbook.
