About Amanda
I am a passionate educator who empowers students to build transferable skills to ensure they succeed not just in school, but in life. Alongside teaching Chemistry, I also led an employability program which centered around building students' capabilities, financial literacy and opportunities to succeed in a workplace. I challenge students to think about not 'what do you want to do?' but 'who do you want to be?'.
I have lived in a small rural town in South Australia and understand the importance of community connection and cultural respect. I ensure all of my interactions are professional, welcoming and respectful.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
When teaching, I prioritize creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I tailor my teaching approach to each individual learner, building on their strengths while explicitly discussing strategies for improvement.
I consistently check for understanding and adapt my explanations in response to student feedback. When introducing or reinforcing concepts, I use real-world examples to deepen understanding and make learning more meaningful.
I place a strong emphasis on drafting and feedback, working closely with students to develop their own drafting strategies and ensure they can communicate their ideas clearly, accurately, and effectively in assessments and examinations.
QUALIFICATIONS
I graduated the University of Adelaide in 2020 with a double degree (Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Teaching) and I have 5 years experience teaching Science 7-12, specializing in Chemistry. I am familiar with the NCEA curriculum as the content and assessments align closely with SACE.
