About Sofia
As an English specialist, I have current classroom experience teaching students at KS3 and KS4 and a strong understanding of the skills and expectations required at GCSE level.
I have a genuine passion for helping students make progress and become more confident in their abilities. I know that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching, explanations and practice to suit their individual needs and identify the areas where they will benefit most from additional support.
I particularly enjoy helping students prepare for their GCSEs, whether they are looking to improve their grades, strengthen specific skills or simply feel more confident approaching exams. I aim to make lessons focused and purposeful, while creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing a student begin to recognise their own progress. I hope to bring that same sense of encouragement and achievement to my tutoring sessions and help students develop not only their English skills but also the confidence to apply them independently.

I offer online English tutoring for KS3 and KS4 students, with a particular focus on helping students prepare effectively and improve their quality of response for their GCSE English Language and Literature exams. Having taught lower prior attaining and higher prior attaining classes, I have a range of knowledge of how to provide support for students' individual needs.
My teaching approach is tailored to each student through live feedback on areas of struggle and how they feel they work best. I use clear explanations, targeted exam practice, model answers and constructive feedback to develop students’ confidence and understanding. Sessions are adapted to address individual strengths and areas for improvement, whether that is essay writing, analysis, exam technique or understanding the set texts.
The typical length of sessions is 60 minutes and takes place online via Google Meet. Sessions are available after school and at weekends, making them suitable for students balancing tutoring with their school timetable.
Each student will have a Google Classroom created for themselves where they can upload attempted exam questions they would like marked and fed back on during our sessions. They will be able to ask for help as well as additional resources to be placed into the classroom.
