About Alex
My Job as a team leader is to effectively lead and support a group of 16 young people (aged between 15 and 17 years old) so that they can successfully complete the NCS programme and most importantly lead and organise a charity project involving and/or benefiting the local community. This job can be challenging as it involves me supervising and teaching the young people for eight days continuously and dealing with issues such as home sickness, ill health and at times challenging behaviour. Despite this I successfully dealt with injuries, safe guarding emergencies, homesickness and of course arguments between the young people. My main success however was that the young people enjoyed themselves and felt like they had benefited from the course. Overall I am very happy that I got to be a part of the young people’s lives during this course.
During the summer of 2016 I volunteered at my school to help out with revision sessions during the exam period. I sat in on a few lessons to give extra support and helped several students with their coursework. This I found was a valuable way to spend the beginning of summer.

I am a BioAnthropology student currently studying at the University of Kent. My teaching style depends very much on the student. Personally I am more of a visual learner so I like to make my style more visual and interactive. I had experience in tutoring before and previously worked with NCS.
