About Patrice
I have worked at Blind Brook Middle/High School as an English Language Arts Teacher of the Deaf. This program was specific to deaf students participating in the SWBOCES’ Mainstream Program. I then was hired within the Special Education Department to teach Emotionally Challenged students who were either Developmentally Delayed or Gifted. There, I have taught students in Pre-K through 12. My duties during this time and even now, are to engage in teaching the Early Childhood Curriculum, to preparing students for the New York State Tests and the New York State Alternate Assessments. I also write teacher reports, I.E.Ps, update Progress Reports, collect Behavioral and Academic Data on students’ performance, and participate in C.S.E and parent/teacher conferences. I inform parents of their child’s progress, as the need arises, and work together with my fellow teachers and related staff in team cohort meetings to develop behavior modification programs to fade out students’ unfavorable emotional occurrences. I have also taught at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls Union Free District as an ASL Teacher for two and a half years. There, I taught Emotionally Disturbed Special Education hearing students in the Middle and High School. I thoroughly enjoyed implementing the love of ASL as a language. I have used ASL to communicate with my students and deaf friends ever since I was 19. I am seeking an opportunity to continue working as a resource for teachers. I enjoy helping others and will seek to ensure the staff are well informed, carry out their required duties, and meet deadlines in a timely manner. I am a flexible and team-oriented individual. My aim is to continue to serve in my teaching career, as it is indeed a rewarding profession. I have taught Regents algebra, Earth Science, Geometry, Living Environment, Global Studies etc. Students have passed due to our collaboration. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and assisting my colleagues. I am dedicated to consistently researching and implementing proven strategies to improve students’ learning and to develop my professional practice. I also hold in high regard, the SWBOCES’ Vision. I work closely and cooperatively with the building principal and other school staff members to facilitate team problem solving and student success.
