About Toni
I am an experienced teaching artist, coach, and facilitator who specializes in reading, oral expression, literacy, and confident communication. My work sits at the intersection of language, creativity, and self-expression, helping students not only improve their skills, but also trust their voice.
I served as the poetry and rap coach for the Emmy Award–winning series The Crossover, where I worked closely with young performers to develop their confidence, articulation, rhythm, and emotional expression. This experience reflects the heart of my teaching practice: helping learners communicate with clarity, presence, and authenticity.
As a coach, I am known for creating a calm, supportive, and professional learning environment. I meet students where they are, while maintaining clear structure, high standards, and respect for each learner’s goals. Whether a student is building foundational English skills, strengthening reading and literacy, or learning how to speak with confidence, I approach each session with patience, focus, and care.
I bring years of experience working with students, artists, educators, and professionals from diverse backgrounds. My teaching style is encouraging and structured, combining practical skill-building with confidence development. Students often share that they feel more comfortable speaking, reading, and expressing themselves after working with me. My teaching artist work has led to working with Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and a myriad of her reputable arts institutions.
I take my role as an educator seriously and pride myself on being reliable, prepared, and attentive. My goal is to help students feel supported while making real, measurable progress in their communication skills and understanding.

My approach to teaching is student-centered, conversational, and confidence-building. I believe language is not just something we study—it’s something we use, feel, and grow into. Whether we’re working on English, oral expression, reading, or literacy, my goal is to help students communicate with clarity, ease, and self-trust.
I combine structure with creativity, meeting students where they are while gently expanding their skills and confidence. I am especially attentive to how students feel when they speak, read, or express themselves, because comfort and confidence are essential to real learning.
Teaching Method & Techniques
Interactive conversation and guided dialogue
Reading aloud and reading comprehension strategies
Vocabulary building through my signature creative workshop exercises & real-life examples
Pronunciation and articulation support
Oral expression and storytelling techniques
Gentle coaching to reduce fear, hesitation, or self-doubt
I adapt each lesson to the student’s learning style, pace, and goals. Lessons are practical, engaging, and rooted in everyday communication rather than rote memorization.
A typical session may include:
Check-in & warm-up (conversation or short reading)
Skill focus (speaking, pronunciation, reading, or literacy work)
Practice (discussion, exercises, or guided expression)
Reflection & feedback (what worked, what to build on)
Optional take-home practice (light and manageable)
Lessons are calm, supportive, and structured—never rushed.
What sets me apart is my background as a competitive speaker/coach, teaching artist, and facilitator. I don’t just teach language—I teach people how to use their voice with confidence.
I create a safe, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and growing at their own pace. Many students come to me not only to improve their English, but to feel more confident speaking in school, work, or everyday life.
My lessons are well suited for:
Middle school, high school, and adult learners
ESL / ELL students
Students seeking support with reading and literacy
Learners who want to improve oral expression and speaking confidence
Professionals or creatives who want to communicate more clearly
All levels are welcome—from beginners to advanced learners.
