About Sterlyn
I am a seasoned singing tutor with 10 years of experience teaching school, college, and working professional students. I have successfully guided 200 to 250 students, helping them build strong vocal technique and performance confidence. My teaching philosophy is centered on flexibility, communication, problem-solving, and integrity, ensuring every student receives clear guidance suited to their pace. I focus on breath control, pitch accuracy, and tone development, giving honest feedback to support real growth. My teaching approach for Singing, Vocal Technique, and Performance Training focuses on helping students develop a strong, confident voice through a method that is honest, adaptable, and clearly communicated. With ten years of experience guiding singers, I have refined a teaching style that responds to each student's individual needs.
Flexibility is central to how I structure lessons. Every student's voice and learning pace are different, so I adjust exercises, pacing, and focus areas based on how each student is progressing, whether that means spending more time on breath control or moving faster through pitch training for a quick learner.
Communication plays a key role in my teaching. I explain vocal concepts clearly and check in regularly to make sure students understand not just what to do, but why certain techniques help their voice, making lessons more meaningful and easier to apply during practice.
Problem-solving comes into play whenever a student faces specific vocal challenges, such as pitch instability, vocal strain, or breath support issues. I identify the root cause of the difficulty and guide students through targeted exercises to resolve it effectively.
Integrity shapes the feedback I give. I am honest about a student's strengths and areas needing improvement, ensuring they receive an accurate picture of their progress rather than only positive reinforcement, which helps them grow faster and more confidently.
My lessons typically begin with breathing exercises and vocal warm ups, followed by pitch training, tone development, and breath support practice. I introduce music theory basics to strengthen rhythm and note understanding alongside vocal skills.
For advanced students, I focus on stage presence, dynamic control, and genre specific techniques, along with recording practice for studio work. My overall aim is to create a flexible, communicative, and honest learning environment where every singer can grow into a confident performer.
