About Amita
I am a researcher with a PhD in Environmental Sciences.
As an Individual with more than 15 years of research experience (including 5 years of policy experience) in the Environmental Management & sustainability space and passionate about providing solutions to human issues, their settlement, addressing problems, I am persuaded that l am a competent candidate to undertake the Senior Advisor role.
I currently work with Ministry for Primary Industries, Government of New Zealand as a Climate Change Policy Analyst supporting the country’s first Emissions Reduction Policy and the country’s first Climate Change National Adaptation Plan. I am also supporting the development of mitigation tools and identifying sustainable market mechanisms for helping the agricultural sector reduce their emissions (country’s sector responsible for largest emissions).
I have been involved in supporting MPI’s “Cyclone Gabrielle Recovery: advice, support, and funding” project aligning different components with the emergency management system and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery.
I do possess the experience of using different tools to capture and report data, document information based on evidence-based analysis and evaluate information into actionable insights.
I have the experience of working in the energy policy space with UNDP and Indian Institute of Science.
