About Jess
My name is Jess and I have been teaching sailing for 3 years for local sailing clubs and the UK sailing academy. As a kid when I was learning to sail I found the theory super confusing especially as I was dyslexic, so I decided that when I became an instructor I would try my best to teach sailing theory in a logical and methodical way allowing children of all backgrounds to understand it. I understand most people don't like the theory they just want to get out on the water, but theory underpins the whole art of sailing, faster boats have better theory.

I have been a RYA Senior instructor and RYA dinghy instructor for the UK sailing academy. I have also received my RYA Powerboat instructor for Levels 1 and 2. I teach 3 different types of lesson - RYA stage specific theory (stages 1-4 youth) (levels 1-3 adult) - RYA Powerboat theory (level 1 and 2) - Specific theory sessions for advanced Modules. Each lesson is 30min long and I suggest for a stage course you have 4-5 sessions to cover all the theory. Reminder: I am not working for an RYA Centre meaning I can't tick log books or give certificates, these sessions are refresher sessions or to get a head start before you do a course.
