About Siobhan

I’m a former Head of Creative Arts and professional actor with over 30 years combined experience in theatre, TV, film and the classroom. (scroll down for some film clips)

As an actor I spent two seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, performed at the Royal Court and Shakespeare’s Globe, and worked regularly with director Katie Mitchell. On screen I played Rotten Rose in three series of the BAFTA-winning Maid Marian and Her Merry Men and appeared in a range of UK television dramas and soaps.

I spent sixteen years as a secondary school teacher, specialising in GCSE and A-level Drama and Film Studies, as well as the LAMDA exams in Acting and Speaking in Public. I have a strong track record in helping students improve their grades, building confidence and having fun in the process. I’ve taught students with a very wide range of needs, including many who are anxious, neurodiverse or who’ve fallen out of love with school.

Alongside teaching I continue to write and direct. My debut feature screenplay, Monica Ole, won the Women in Film & Television / Avalon Screenwriting Award and was produced as a feature film. I’ve written for CBBC's Boo! and the BAFTA-winning BBC series ChuckleVision. I have also directed plays nationally and internationally, and my schemes of work are regularly published by educational presses.

I’m available during the day for home-educated students, as well as after school. I have particular experience supporting young people with additional needs, low confidence or school-based anxiety and I use a mix of strategies, with fun and gentle humour to the fore, to coax the best from them. What matters most to me as a tutor is that each student feels understood, supported and stretched at the right pace – whether they’re aiming for top grades, drama school, LAMDA related UCAS points, or simply a happier relationship with learning and performing that supports their overall wellbeing, not just their exam results.

What makes my lessons different

Confidence first
I use warmth, humour and clear steps so anxious or quieter learners feel safe enough to join in and improve.

Neurodiversity-aware & SEND/EHCP experienced
I often work with neurodiverse students and those who struggle with school-based anxiety. I break work into small, manageable stages, build in recap, and offer alternatives to long written answers.

Visual and resource-rich
I don’t just talk at students on Zoom. I use resources I’ve created myself
short revision films
scene/shot breakdown videos
visual notes and knowledge organisers
quick-fire quizzes

Exam-smart, but human
I translate the spec into simple structures, model answers and regular practice, without losing the creativity and enjoyment of the subject.
