About Alistair
I am a composer working primarily in film and TV, after receiving my Masters degree from the Royal College of Music. I have been lucky to have always had generous and supportive tutors and mentors to teach me musical skills, right from being a child, and in more recent years to guide me professionally. I think it’s important to be able to pass on these things to those who may be just starting out, or who may otherwise be struggling to get the knowledge and motivation they need. Some of my most cherished memories and inspiring experiences have come thanks to those more knowledgeable than myself passing on their wisdom. I’m grateful for the opportunity to do the same for others.

Lessons can be tailored in both content and length, following an initial (and ongoing) discussions with the student, based on any prior experience, age and goals. Masters in Composition from the Royal College of Music and numerous TV/Film/Video Game credits, including David Attenborough (BBC), Sky, Sony and EA Having worked in a commercial studio I was frequently teaching new staff the skills in an effective, professional environment. Over the years I have had countless private instrumental students too (primarily guitar).

Alistair was invaluable in helping our son pass his grade 5 theory. His usual teacher was unavailable and Alistair was happy to help. While we don't live too far away, we had to do the lessons online, although Alistair did say we were able to visit his studio for lessons. Alistair was generous with his time and was able to explain things patiently and in a way our son could understand.
