About Lucy
I have a diverse range of composing experiences, covering styles such as contemporary classical, electronic music, installation music and even film music, with some recent highlights being a commission for the Royal Botanic Gardens, and composing for musicians of the Britten Sinfonia. My relationship with music goes back a long way having trained as a violinist in my youth, and I am particularly dedicated to understanding the nuances that bring a piece of music to life. I am experienced in writing for a broad range of instruments and have had mentorship from world-renowned composers, and am passionate about sharing the joys of composing with others so that they may tap into their creative side and be confident in creating new music!

Each individual has a unique journey into music, and my approach to teaching is all about understanding the different needs and attributes of my students to best provide both productive and inspiring growth. I am a flexible teacher who will tailor your lessons to your preferences, be it more intense study or simply to have fun, and am open to covering a wide range of approaches and techniques! I have experience teaching individuals in addition to leading composition workshops in schools and with professionals. Beginners to intermediate, all ages welcome! I can help with GCSE/A level compositions or exam preparation, or simply help unleash your creative potential!
