About Tom
I've been playing guitar since I was a teenager in the early 1990s. Back then, guitar music ruled popular culture, and I was lucky enough to see bands like Guns N' Roses, Soundgarden and Metallica in their prime, which in turn inspired me to pick up the guitar and attempt to play their riffs and solos. I played in various bands with friends and was always seeking to improve. My taste in music today is more eclectic and versatile and I love jazz, orchestral film scores and even some pop. But my roots are in rock, blues and metal, and these are the styles I'm still naturally drawn to as a player.

I mainly teach beginners and intermediate students, and it's all about getting you playing the music you love as quickly as possible. There will be some technique, chord and scale study, but also an emphasis on ear training and a close examination of the players and styles you admire and wish to emulate.
