About Nicholas
I started my career in nature education providing outdoor learning to students aged 6 - 14. After 4 years, I transitioned to tutoring high school and college students. I have tutored all ages on the English language, mathematics, and SAT prep for over 10 years. Being a great educator is more than just having knowledge of a discipline, it requires clear, authentic, and comfortable communication. I try to always be mindful to meet students wherever they are at in their learning journey and steadily build upward.

My sessions begin with understanding why a student has sought me out. We look at what the student wants to accomplish - be it homework, studying, or implementing our own curriculum to sharpen a specific skill. Once the big picture is established, we get to work! I provide a fun-ish and non-judgemental environment where actual learning can prosper. Throughout a session, I switch between being hands-on and taking a step back to supervise. The ultimate goal is for the student to not need me anymore. Often, I will provide a simple explanation which gives students the skills and confidence to move forward on their own. If a task is proving to be exceptionally challenging, I will absolutely hold a student's hand and we can go through each step together. Everyone gets it eventually!
