About Anri

I've been tutoring for almost a decade now especially scientific subjects, and private lessons of revit architecture to young architects. I've been using the software since my first year of university and now I've started a company in Italy with a colleague of mine where we organise courses of Revit. I can say that I know how it works the system and I can prepare my students for the Autodesk Revit Professional exam.

My name is Anri. I've got a Master's degree in Building Engineering and I've been tutoring for almost a decade now. I know that it is difficult for a student to comprehend some subjects and that's why I never give for granted anything. I'm very patient, which I think is a key point in tutoring, so that the student won't feel any pressure if he doesn't understand something.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I’ve always been good with numbers and problem solving since I was a kid. Finding the solutions to complicated problems is a unique personal fulfilment and that is why I choose the field of engineering.
I started tutoring for fun when I was in high school when my friends would ask me to help them study. They told me that I was really good at it and slowly it became a hobby.
  • Tell us more about the subjects you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach scientific subjects and specialist software such as Revit and Autocad. As I speak 4 languages, I also teach Greek and Italian. I like to understand my students so I always ask them about themselves.
9 out of 10 forget why they’ve chosen that university or that subject, so I always try to motivate them. And I think I’m doing a good job.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My role models were and are my parents. They taught me hard working and to always pursue my dreams for a better life and to always improve myself by staying humble. That is one of the reasons that pushed me to move to the UK leaving behind friends and family.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I personally believe that a student who asks for my help is because his/her professor isn’t doing a good job. This is not necessarily because they are bad at teaching. It is because, probably, after years of teaching the same things they have started giving things for granted and they have lost their passion. And that is what makes me a good tutor. I never take anything for granted. I always explain things as the student has never seen that subject, doesn’t matter how easy it might be, and I explain it to him/her as many times as necessary.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Back in my school days whenever the teacher would examine me on the board in front of everybody, I would always get an A. That is not because I had studied the subject that day, but because an hour before I would ask my friend to ask the teacher to solve the problems where I already knew the answers. I would then volunteer to my teacher to be examined which I knew would have been appreciated. I did it for three years straight.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Every subject has its own complexities and are so vast that it is impossible to remember everything. Whenever that happens, where I don’t know the answer to my students' questions I would do a research or grab my old notes until I have that answer. Sometimes it takes me days.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Every subject that I teach I do it with passion. I’m a full-time engineer and the only reason why I am a tutor, too, is because I love it, and that is why I believe I am good at it.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is that I’m not just doing the 1h session and then getting paid. Together with my students, we will develop an approach that is most suitable based on both our schedules to succeed. With cooperation and patience and following my instructions everything is possible. As long as the student has the passion to learn I will always be there for him/her.
