About Catherine
I’m an English and linguistics teacher now, but am a classically trained soprano. I started singing and learning music through Anglican church traditions (LOTS of choral polyphony), and have since added piano and viola to my repertoire, as well as an attempt at ukulele and classical guitar. Music theory and musicology were my favorite parts of my degree, and I consistently scored high—enough so to become an undergraduate TA! I also got a 5 on the AP exam, and know you can too.

Hey! If you struggle in music theory classes (like many do) these one on one lessons are for you. We’ll review theory concepts, as well as work on aural skills (both in your instrument, and in singing/solfege) and practicing listening exams as needed. If you need it, we can also create study resources like spotify playlists, flashcards, review sheets, and more to help retain that information and ensure your GPA stays intact.
If you need musicology or music history help (essays, research, test prep), I can do that too :)
These lessons are intended for university students (both music majors and non-majors) as well as high schoolers taking AP music theory. But if you’re just keen on theory, you’re welcome to join.
Have a roommate or a friend and prefer to work together? We can also organize a group lesson.
