About Phil
I started my IT career as a computer operator in a tape library feeding reel-to-reel tape drives on the graveyard shift some forty years ago in state government. From there I became a COBOL programmer, then an assembler programmer for the airlines. I have one wonderful daughter, a fantastic son-in-law, and two bright & beautiful grandkids.

As a strong believer in hands-on teaching, but not a "homework doer," my primary task is to impart knowledge by pulling back that heavy curtain of obfuscation that surrounds the world of computers and explaining what's on the other side.

Phil would be an excellent choice to aid you in your educational journey. During my long path to a PhD, Phil has been there multiple times to keep me heading in the right direction. From the first time needing his help in the use of combinations/permutations in statistics he was patient and tried explaining the problem in multiple ways. The same was true for calculus help. All things being excellent in the past I sought his help in an 'intro to programming course'. The course was Python based and I was having a few problems, not only did Phil help me with the immediate issue but he also conveyed a deeper understanding of how the language worked, allowing me to take pages of code and collapse it down to just a few lines of text. Again, I would highly recommend Phil for tutoring in mathematics or computer programming.
