About Joshua
I am a dedicated Drum tutor with over 23 years of experience teaching college students who want to improve rhythm, timing, and overall musical confidence. My goal is to make drum learning clear, practical, and enjoyable. My teaching style is creative and student-focused. I believe strong drumming comes from understanding rhythm deeply, not just memorizing beats.
I explain concepts step by step and encourage students to think critically about groove and coordination. I use innovative teaching methods such as groove layering, tempo consistency drills, and coordination exercises. I also include song-based learning and play-along sessions so students can apply what they learn in real musical situations.
Accountability is a key part of my lessons. I help students create structured practice routines and set realistic goals. Regular feedback helps students stay motivated and improve steadily. Along with drum performance, I also teach rhythm reading, basic music theory, beat structure, and performance skills. My lessons are supportive, interactive, and focused on long-term growth.

Creativity is encouraged through groove creation, rhythm practice, and basic improvisation. Students learn to create their own beats and fills while exploring different musical styles. Song-based learning helps connect techniques with real music.
As a critical thinker and mentor, I explain rhythm concepts step by step. Timing, coordination, and technique are taught in a clear and practical way. Students are encouraged to think independently and build musical confidence.
Accountability is maintained through structured practice routines and regular progress reviews. I provide clear goals and supportive feedback to help students stay disciplined and motivated.
Along with drums, I also teach basic music theory, rhythm reading, tempo control, and performance preparation. My goal is to help students become confident, creative, and responsible drummers.
