About Eliana
I have tutored numerous high-school students in mathematics and physics, both when I was a student and now that I am a graduate. As your tutor, I will help explain to you the concepts that you need to understand as well as how to apply these to solve problems. My goal as a tutor would be to increase your confidence and help you to feel less lost with what you may be struggling with in your classes.

I can tutor math from grades 8-10 and physics from grades 8-12. My approach is basically to understand what a student wants out of tutoring, and determine where the gaps in their knowledge are. The areas of struggle tend to fall under 1 of 2 categories: 1) not fully understanding the concepts they've learned in class, in which case I would teach and review them thoroughly with examples and answer any questions they might have, 2) an inability to apply their understanding of the concepts to solve questions that involve using equations or mathematical concepts, in which case I would do practice questions with them and explain the steps involved.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I really understand why students tend to struggle to learn and apply new concepts even if they are taught to them in class. I find that truly understanding a concept can require alternative explanations, and a slow step-by-step approach. I understand what it's like not to understand the lessons that teachers in school provide, and am mostly self-taught in my understanding of math and physics concepts. Therefore I can apply the strategies I've used to teach myself to help other students learn their content when the lessons provided in school are not adequate. Also, I graduated in 2024 so my understanding of the current curriculum is very thorough.
A typical lesson plan completely depends on what the student aims to achieve. For example, if they are struggling to understand the concepts themselves, I would create a digital lesson plan beforehand and during the tutoring session I would hand-write notes as I explain the concepts and equations that pertain to them. I would also prepare examples to demonstrate the points I am making. If a student is struggling to apply their understanding to problem-solve, I would prepare relevant practice questions or help them with practice questions assigned to them in class.
