About Michael
I am a recent graduate from the University of Georgia. I decided to major in Spanish and study Latin American history as well. I have lived in Spain for a total of six months. Four of those months were spent in Granada and another two in Sevilla. My dialect is similar to that of someone from southern Spain, which many say is the most difficult dialect to understand. I believe it is a beautiful dialect and one of the most fun to speak. Since I was just recently still a university student, I understand all of the difficulties that come with learning a language in a class setting. I am sure that I have experienced many struggles that you may be experiencing right now. After living with two different families in Spain and learning from some of the best professors in the country, I have developed a great system for learning to read, write, and speak in Spanish. I am passionate about this language and about its speakers. I believe anyone who wants to learn Spanish can do it and should give it their best. I'm an easygoing and understanding person who will encourage you to make mistakes and find the joy in the language learning process. A secret about learning Spanish. It is not learned in the classroom, nor is it learned in a few hour-long sessions with me. I am only a stepping stone in the process of helping you fall in love with this language, so that you may want to sing along to Spanish songs, travel to Spanish-speaking countries, and connect with your Spanish-speaking neighbors. Spanish is learned out there, in the world, and it is a whole lot of fun.

- A typical session will involve developing goals based around the student's needs & seeking to achieve them through conventional and non-conventional learning methods. - We will spend time learning new vocabulary, grammatical structures, and proper pronunciation of words through non-conventional methods such as listening/reviewing Spanish songs, reading/learning about different Spanish cultures, and practicing speaking in a relaxed/fun environment. - I believe learning anything should be fun and challenging at the same time. Many times learning a language can just feel challenging, without the fun. I fell in love with Spanish through music and have used Spanish music, from all over Latin America and Spain, to fuel my knowledge of the language. That being said, language learning is structural and requires knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and how to read/write in the language. We can do both at the same time! - Lessons are for any student of any age and background looking to improve their Spanish. I can especially be of help to those looking for direct help in their high school or college Spanish courses in the beginner to intermediate range. I have a lot of experience with Spanish classes and have many tips for those looking to get a better grade or take the next step with Spanish.

In the last five months since Michael has been my Spanish tutor, I have seen enormous growth in my ability to speak, write, and comprehend Spanish. Michael is patient and is happy to answer all of my questions/concerns. I went from being unable to converse in Spanish to confident to speak with native-speakers.
