About Quincy
As a recent Communications graduate from DePaul University, I have honed my ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and in teaching. My academic background equips me with a strong understanding of language, structure, and persuasive techniques, which I’m excited to share with my students.
I am passionate about helping students enhance their writing skills, whether they are crafting essays, personal statements, or professional documents. My approach is tailored to each student’s needs, focusing on strengthening their individual voice and improving clarity, coherence, and impact.
In addition to my work as a writing tutor, I also teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to Spanish-speaking students. With experience in both teaching and tutoring, I understand the challenges that students face when learning a new language, and I’m dedicated to helping them build confidence in their English skills.
I take pride in my professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to inspire confidence in my students. With a commitment to clear communication, I will help you achieve your academic and professional goals, ensuring that your work reflects your true potential.

As a tutor, I prioritize a personalized, student-centered approach. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging environment where each student can build confidence and mastery in their work. Here’s how I approach my lessons:
Teaching Method and Techniques:
I believe in adapting my teaching methods to fit the unique learning style of each student. Whether through interactive activities, practical exercises, or detailed feedback, I strive to make each lesson engaging. For ESL students, I use a combination of conversational practice, vocabulary building, and grammar drills. For essay writing, I focus on brainstorming, outlining, and revision techniques to ensure clear, coherent arguments.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session starts with a quick review of the previous material to reinforce learning. Then, we move on to the core topic of the lesson, which may involve reading comprehension, writing exercises, or discussion. I end each session with a recap and a set of exercises or tasks for the student to work on independently before our next meeting. For admissions help, we work on brainstorming, refining personal statements, and perfecting application essays.
What Sets Me Apart:
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to connect with students and make complex concepts easier to understand. My background in Communications allows me to break down topics in a relatable way, while my commitment to detail ensures that students not only understand the material but can apply it confidently in real-world contexts. I also take the time to understand each student's goals and tailor lessons accordingly, whether they're improving English skills, preparing for college admissions, or refining professional documents like resumes.
Who the Lessons Are For:
I offer lessons for a wide range of students, from those learning English as a second language (beginner to advanced levels) to high school and college students needing help with essay writing, editing, and admissions support. Whether you're aiming to improve your language skills, refine your academic writing, or navigate the college application process, I’m here to help you succeed.
I look forward to working with students at all levels who are dedicated to learning and achieving their academic or professional goals!
