About Olivia
Hello! I’m Olivia and I’m a recent college graduate with a BS in microbiology, and minors in plant biology and chemistry. I worked in public health for a little while but I didn’t find it as fulfilling as being in the university setting where one is immersed in learning and teaching. I miss the discovery of knowledge that being a student and a teacher can bring, so I have decided to go into tutoring. I have experience teaching and engaging both children and teens difficult subject matter, and I would love to help you or your child grow intellectually in the areas of microbiology, chemistry, plant biology, microbiology, biotechnology, ecology and more!

My approach to education stems from my own experience with teachers who would engage me personally by helping me to understand the cause or background of the topic at hand so it truly “sticks”. I believe it’s very important to put into context the specific lesson so that the student is able to place the topic into the broader network of knowledge of the field within their own mind. After lessons, I always Socratically inquire into the students understanding of the concept to assure they are indeed making the necessary connections and able to explain to me, the instructor, the concept in their own way, that demonstrates mastery before moving on.
