About Nick
Hi! My name is Nick and I graduated from Boston College last spring with degrees in history and film studies. I gravitated towards history early in my life and have been captivated by it since. In High School, I earned 5s on AP World History, AP European History, AP National State and Local Government, and AP Comparative Politics. I also was a member of the Model United Nations team and established a club at the local middle school to expose many kids to the world of international relations. In college, I similarly worked with the Model UN team, as well as serving in the History Department as a student aide. Despite not taking AP U.S. History in high school, much of my college experience focused of the study of American History. I have also worked as camp counselor for kids ranging from second grade to early high school and really enjoy working with kids.

I believe history is best understood through the lens of storytelling. History study guides often just have a long list of dates and names with textbook definitions. While definitely important, I think students often miss the forest for the trees. Just like a novel or movie, historical episodes have beginnings, middles and ends, conflicts, motivations, failures and successes, etc. Because of this, I believe strongly in asking "how" and "why" as well. Approaching historical study this way will deepen one's understanding of a given time period and give them a larger basket of knowledge to pull from, especially useful in the event of curveball questions. I also hope that it makes it more enjoyable for the students. History is fun and fascinating, I hope to teach it that way!
