About UmmKulthoom
I’ve finished my A levels and currently just trying to make the most of my gap year. Some of my hobbies are baking, thrift shopping and going on long windy hikes with my family. I like volunteering at my local food bank as the youth committee leader, and helping out at local nurseries. I’m currently finalising what I want to do in the future. I understand this is something many students struggle with, therefore (as a gap-year taker) I’m pleased to provide any personal advice.

•Level- I can teach students from GCSE to A level
•Length- 1 hour or more.
•Qualifications- I have achieved A* in all three of my A levels: Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. For GCSE, I achieved grade 9 in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as well as grade 8 in Biology.
•Teaching techniques-Having completed my A-level studies very recently, I have a fresh understanding of the Mathematics specification, knowing which topics grab the most marks, the loopholes to certain principles and all the best exam questions.
I believe for GCSE and A level students, who aspire to achieve A/A* grades, the most important skill to procure is exam technique. Especially for Mathematics, as there are many ways to find the solution to a single problem; however, some are more tedious than others. I aim to guide students in choosing the most effective way under time restrictions.
A typical lesson would start with a review of the previous lesson, followed by an engaging conversation-based tutorial on a particular topic. A large part of the lesson will be spent practising exam questions together, to develop familiarity and confidence. All lessons will be customized to each student as I hope to encourage communication, curiosity and creativity.
Through this opportunity, I desire to utilise my skills of adaptability and patience, to deliver outstanding quality of service and be a dependable role model for younger students.
