About Emma
Vocalist, percussionist and Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University alumni, Emma Skegg is an emerging musician based in Meanjin (Brisbane). Her artistic range allows for deeply rooted and sensitive performances, inspired by alternative, r&b soul and instrumental influences. She increasingly engages in diverse musical opportunities among ensembles most notably led by operatic and orchestral conductors, Simon Kenway, Nigel Gaynor and Associate Professor, Carl Crossin OAM. Emma is a seasoned performer, appearing as a chorister and instrumental soloist in multiple television broadcasts and radio, undertaking tours at both a national and international level, as well as being involved in projects with professional arts organizations. She has featured in notable performances including Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Mahler 3 with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alondra de la Parra, annually at QPAC’s Spirit of Christmas, again with the QSO, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Pops Orchestra. She had the privilege of representing her country at the Lighting of the Flame ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe, Paris and again at the Anzac Day Dawn Service in the Australian National Memorial in Villers Bretonneux.

I demonstrate a balanced and understanding teaching methodology perfect for young singers. This style is student-centered and includes observation and support to students as they learn through the use of prompting questions, encouraging discussion and effective, clear expectations. Typically, lessons can be from 30 mins to 60 mins long broken down into a warm-up period of 10 mins, 40 mins of activity and 10 mins of cooldown. Recommended lessons are open to any age of any experience level. In my time studying, I have learned a level of proficiency and pedagogy that I believe will assist me in approaching each lesson effectively.
