About John
I decided to make a career change to return to my fist love of philosophy. Although I have not been a qualified teacher for very long, my first role after qualifying was as HEad of the Religious Studies department at an academy in East London rated as outstanding by Ofsted.
I have a wide ranging general knowledge of history, geopolitics, sociology and phsychology, and a particular knowledge of film, TV, books, and comics.
I find it rewarding to to help students find their way through what can appear to be complex concepts and be able to relate them to how they see the world

My teaching method is to use various techniques to explain ides and help students grasp difficult concepts. This includes using a high standard of writing and speaking (grammar/vocabulary) to help students express themselves. The skills learned will help individuals to attain higher grades in any subject as well as give greter confidence in later life.
I will use youtube clips, song lyrics, poetry, non-academic literary sources; as well as refering to more traditional works.
I WILL CHALLENGE YOU and everything you believe.
But you will come out the other side able to articulate your viewpoint and understand the arguments of others.
