About Gary
Hello, I'm Gary, a qualified teacher with over 30 years of experience in education. Throughout my career, I have worked as a Teacher, SENDCo, Senior Leader, Headteacher, University Educator and Private Tutor, supporting students of all ages and abilities.
I enjoy teaching Psychology because it encourages students to think critically about human behaviour, relationships and the factors that influence the way we think and act. It is a fascinating subject that develops analytical, evaluative and research skills which are valuable far beyond the classroom.
I particularly enjoy one-to-one tutoring as it allows me to tailor lessons to the individual needs of each student. Whether a student needs support building confidence, improving grades or preparing for examinations, I strive to create a positive learning environment where they feel supported, challenged and able to succeed.
Alongside tutoring, I currently work within a university Education Department and continue to draw upon both extensive practical experience and current educational research to inform my teaching.

My approach to tutoring is centred on developing confidence, understanding and independent thinking. Psychology is a subject that requires students not only to learn key theories and studies, but also to analyse, evaluate and apply their knowledge effectively. My lessons are designed to build these skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
I begin by identifying a student's strengths and areas for development before tailoring lessons to their individual needs. Particular attention is given to developing subject knowledge, essay-writing skills, research methods and examination technique. As confidence grows, students become better able to construct well-reasoned arguments and respond effectively to examination questions.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are delivered online using professional equipment, including a visualiser and webcam, allowing explanations and discussions to be clear and interactive. As examinations approach, lessons become increasingly focused on revision, past papers, mark schemes and examiner expectations.
With over 30 years' experience in education, I have supported students of varying abilities and backgrounds. Whether a student is seeking to improve confidence, raise grades or achieve the highest marks, my aim is to help them reach their full potential and develop a genuine understanding of Psychology.
