Ella very curious and clearly loves books. She is interested in learning the sounds with her mum. Based on what I saw today, the lesson would work best if we do short bursts of phonics practice and then do some activities that are related to the sounds we practiced. We could do I spy activities, drawing, singing/ dancing. Ella's fine motor skills are very good and she is able to trace lines, this means she can start practicing tracing the letters, which will help to embed her phonics knowledge. Ella is still very young, so an approach that is mostly play based would work best for her in my opinion.

I enjoyed the enthusiasm with which she came to the lesson! She is clearly eager to learn and has some really good strategies in place already. Helping her say the phonics sounds a little more precise will benefit her in her reading and writing. Some precision teaching and focusing on getting a few words embedded each week at the start will then make her more confident. We can then build up to learn more words each week.
