About Wafaa

I am a surgeon with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, which I obtained in 2017. Since then, I have been dedicated to teaching both basic and clinical medicine-even during my time as a medical student. I served as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Clinical Skills at my alma mater, where I conducted clinical sessions for courses such as Professional and Communication Skills. Additionally, I facilitated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions and managed various administrative tasks assigned by the Director of Academic Affairs. I was also actively involved in the mentorship program, guiding students in both academic and extracurricular activities. My teaching experience spans across all levels, from first-year students to those in their final year of study.

Every student is different, and each one is unique-it's as simple as that! I take the time to understand my students' needs, weaknesses and goals before beginning our journey together. Medicine can be truly enjoyable when approached the right way, and I strive to make learning both engaging and rewarding. My students appreciate this approach, and I am grateful for the many positive emails and feedback I receive from them.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

Since early on in medical school, I have always shown interest in tutoring my peers and juniors in various settings. To further expand my involvement in educational activities, I have also actively participated in various research activities as marked advancements in research and revolutionary techniques are changing the current practices in medicine. This, along with other experiences, allowed me to contribute to multiple peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations locally and internationally.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Each subject is different and there are many ways to enjoy learning different topics. I do not dislike any topic, I always try to find a way to enjoy what I find challenging.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes of course I did. My pathology professor was amazing and the way he teaches inspired me a lot.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Be honest and know your limits.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I usually prefer sharing these stories with my students during the sessions ;)
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Challenges arise everyday. Keeping in mind that science is advancing and new information is being added every minute makes it important to be updated all the time.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I have an absolute passion in teaching Medicine!
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?

My students should be able answer this :-P
