About Colin
I have over ten years of experience working with animals, both in zoological settings and in the wild. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong passion for conservation and for helping others understand and appreciate the natural world.
My background has given me a solid, practical understanding of animal behavior, welfare, and conservation science. This allows me to explain complex concepts in a clear, engaging, and relatable way, helping students build both knowledge and confidence in their learning.
I take professionalism seriously and strive to create a supportive, respectful learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding. My aim is not only to teach, but to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine appreciation for how animals interact with their environments.

I offer one-on-one tutoring with a strong focus on real-world understanding, critical thinking, and building student confidence. Having worked hands-on with a wide variety of animals both in captivity and in the wild, I’m able to relate academic concepts directly to real conservation and animal management experiences. This helps students not only understand what they are learning, but why it matters and how it applies in the real world.
My teaching style is structured but flexible. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals, and learning style, whether they are working toward assessments, preparing for exams, or wanting to deepen their understanding of zoology, biology, or conservation. I encourage questions, discussion, and problem-solving to ensure students feel supported and engaged rather than overwhelmed.
Teaching Techniques & Methodology:
Breaking down complex concepts into clear, easy-to-understand explanations
Using real examples from zoo and field conservation work to reinforce learning
Supporting coursework, assessments, and exam preparation
Encouraging independent thinking and scientific reasoning
Creating a calm, respectful environment where students feel comfortable asking questions
Lessons typically run for 1–2 hours, allowing enough time to cover material in depth while maintaining focus and momentum. Session length can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs.

Over 10 years in the conservation industry, working with a wide variety of species in both zoological settings and field conservation roles, including hands-on wildlife work in natural environments.
Qualifications:
Certificate in Captive Wild Animal Management
Marsupial Biology and Management
Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Sales)
Currently completing a Master of Science (MSc) in Biodiversity Managementagement)
