About Jeremy
Since graduating from Middlesex University with a BA in Music: Jazz, I have been teaching saxophone in both 1-2-1 and small group lessons. While some students enjoying playing just for fun, I have also helped guide other students towards taking their ABRSM and Guildhall practical and theory exams, using both the classical and jazz syllabuses. With the jazz syllabus, there is lots of scope for improvisation, which can be a really fun skill to learn and explore.
I also have lots of experience in performing in various groups, in and around the London area, at arts centres, functions, jazz venues, pubs, festivals, etc. My main interest lies in jazz, and I lead my own jazz quartet and larger ensemble, and have recorded two albums featuring my own music.

I give lessons to all ages and abilities, young to old, beginners to Grade 8 and beyond. I always aim to improve a student's overall musicianship through a variety of activities within a lesson, such as ear training, sight-reading, tone development, improvisation, use of dynamics, etc, and like to tailor each lesson to that particular student's unique interests and learning style.
Above all, though, I aim to make lessons fun and stimulating, and together with students I like to set realistic goals, which can be achieved through regular practice. When it comes to practice sessions, I believe that the little-and-often approach works well, especially when you're just starting out on a new instrument. As your stamina increases and your embouchure muscles strengthen, you can then begin to increase the time you spend playing the instrument.
