About Paris
After gaining a Bachelor of Design & Visual Arts Majoring in Photography and Film I became a full-time photographer and videographer, which I have been doing for 9 years now. Throughout this time I have been tutoring photography to children and adults alike. I work both in studio, and on location shoots so I can teach about aspects of photographing in both environments. My students have given feedback that they have not only gained deeper understandings of photography in my classes but enjoyed the style and pace of each lesson too.

Do you want to take interesting photos and get creative with your camera? Are you curious about how to take nature, people, or abstract photographs? How about learning how light, and colour, works with cameras to make pictures?
In these classes you will benefit from focussed one to one learning, so that we can mould each session around what your main photographic interests are.
I can teach you an array of fundamental technical skills, as well as a lot of creative art photography content so you learn how to make imaginative and artistic photographs.
You can use any type of camera, tablet or phone. If you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera then you can opt to learn about how to use your camera on manual mode (off automatic).
Each class is highly interactive, and filled with interesting photographic themes which are sure to engage and inspire your imagination. You can choose any one of the following themes to focus on in each session:
DSLR/Mirrorless classes:
Class theme 1: Understanding the Exposure Triangle (ISO, Shutter Speed & Aperture) and the inner workings of a DSLR camera
Class theme 2: Advancing our camera knowledge and skills: Learning about different kinds of lenses, understanding White Balance, Focus, Composition & Angles
Other Themes:
Class theme 3: Colour theory and how light works in photography + acclaimed photographer review
Class theme 4: All about portraiture: How to engage your subject, portraying emotions and expressions, choosing your location and lighting + acclaimed photographer review
Class theme 5: All about abstract photography: Camera movements, bokeh, reflections, plants/flowers + acclaimed photographer review
Class theme 6: All about black & white photography: The importance of contrast, patterns & leading lines, exposure settings, flash in b&w + acclaimed photographer review
Class theme 7: Free photography editing software tutorial + acclaimed photographer review
Class theme 8: Animal Photography
Class theme 9: Night / Long Exposures
Class theme 10: Nature / Landscape
Class theme 11: Fashion
Class theme 12: Architecture / Buildings

Content :
I have put together slideshow presentations, with plenty of pictures, short video clips and diagrams to help engage you to better visualise the art & technical elements etc.
Location:
We can meet in person around Melbourne - cafes are good so I can share my presentations, then get hands on with your camera going for photo walks if you'd like to incorporate that into your sessions.
Alternatively we can do online calls via Zoom.
Class Structure:
Each lesson focusses around a central topic so that we can do deep dive into learning and understanding each concept thoroughly. We explore many different examples of photography work under each theme through discussions, and hands on experimentation with our cameras. Classes end with an acclaimed photographer review which involves learning about a variety of famous photographers from throughout history and analysing their photographs and techniques/process.
About me:
I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor who encourages curiosity and engagement from my students. I completed a Bachelors Degree in Design & Visual Arts majoring in Photography and Film, and have worked for 9+ years as a professional photographer and videographer. My work includes imagery from portraits to landscapes, as well architecture and still-life. In 2015 I was named Canons New Zealand Young Photographer of the Year.

Learning is ongoing love of mine, which has transferred on to my love of teaching! My classes are designed to encourage curiosity in students as a way of exploring new ideas and understandings. I am a passionate educator who likes to incorporate fun projects & quizzes into classes, to better engage students and immerse them in enjoying learning!
Beginners welcome:
No prior knowledge of photography is needed! Students who have done photography before may also learn something as we go in depth into each element of the exposure triangle.
