About Marlyse
I am a qualified primary school teacher with a passion for languages and helping children develop confidence in French. I have experience working with primary-aged children and understand how to make learning engaging, accessible and enjoyable for different ages and abilities.
I particularly enjoy teaching French to children aged 5–11, including home-educated children, beginners and children who want to build on what they are learning at school.
My approach is warm, patient and encouraging. I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, supported and excited to participate. I use my experience as a primary teacher to create lessons that are well structured while still being fun and interactive.
I am passionate about helping children develop not only their French vocabulary and pronunciation, but also the confidence to actually use the language.
Whether your child is completely new to French or already has some experience, I will tailor lessons to their individual needs and learning style.

I believe children learn languages best when they are having fun, feeling confident and actively involved in the lesson.
As a qualified primary school teacher, I use a child-centred and engaging approach to teaching French. I adapt each lesson to the child's age, ability, interests and previous experience, making sure that learning is both enjoyable and purposeful.
For younger learners, I use a combination of songs, stories, games, movement, repetition and creative activities to introduce French naturally. As children become more confident, I incorporate conversation, pronunciation, reading, writing, vocabulary and sentence-building activities.
My lessons are interactive rather than worksheet-heavy. I encourage children to speak French from the beginning and create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and having a go.
Lessons are typically 45 minutes for younger children and 60 minutes for older children, although I can adapt the length depending on the child's age and needs.
I have experience teaching primary-aged children and understand how to make learning appropriate and engaging for different ages and abilities. I particularly enjoy working with children aged 5–11, including home-educated children, beginners and children who would like to develop their confidence in French alongside their school learning.
My aim is for every child to finish their lesson feeling proud of what they have learnt and excited to use their French again.
