About Hannah
I have experience of working in schools with children from a variety of backgrounds, aged between 3-11; this includes those with English as an Additional Language, as well as Special Educational Needs.
I was fortunate to gain my teaching qualifications at the prestigious Institute of Education, University College London. This Primary PGCE gave me the chance to work with global experts in the field of teaching and learning, and this academic experience underpins my teaching practise.
I am perceptive and meticulous in my assessment of my students’ learning and quick to identify and note down those challenged or not challenged enough. I am sensitive to children's misconceptions in their knowledge. I work hard to ensure these are anticipated in my planning so that I can respond when they arise.
I work hard at really getting to know my children and strive to deliver inclusive and creative lessons that will challenge them, but play to their interests and strengths. I work collaboratively and actively with parents and teaching fellows, such that I might benefit from their experience and specific knowledge of the children.
I use differentiated questioning during discussions, giving children of all attainment levels the chance to contribute confidently with the learning. I incorporate Drama into my teaching to engage children who might otherwise find the learning more difficult to access.
I have a strong working knowledge of traditional and contemporary children’s books and creative approaches to teaching with literature in primary schools. In a previous school, I established a successful children’s book group to revive children’s love of books and develop their communication skills.
I make the most of any opportunities for CPD offered to me. I have an accrediatation in Jolly Phonics teaching; Safeguarding Level 2 training and specific training in the use of bar-modelling in Primary Maths and the teaching of poetry with Michael Rosen.
I am academic and conscientious, with a First Class degree in the Arts from the London South Bank University. I am confident my references will attest to my strong work ethic and potential as a tutor.
