About James
Good day! My name is James and I have been teaching high school music for 15 years. I am passionate about encouraging students as they strive to do their best on their instrument. I also enjoy finding new ways that will help them achieve their goals. Over the course of my teaching career, the ensembles I have led have been awarded numerous national and international accolades. One highlight would be the award of gold at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational that took place at Carnegie Hall in 2019. I am a clarinettist first and foremost, and have experience teaching private lessons on all wind and brass instruments, as well as percussion, piano and guitar. When teaching music to someone, I find it important to make a connection with the student. Music taps into the human soul and acknowledging that concept in the lesson is instrumental in helping with their development. Lessons would be cumulative and project based, with an end target in mind. For performance, I would start with a short discussion, warm ups and then helping the student tackle any issues they are experiencing. The lessons I would teach could be tailored to a full class, a small class or even an individual.
