About Mary
I have been teaching since 1991. I qualified fully as a maths and outdoor activity teacher in 1994 and have been teaching in one form or another since then.
My first mathematics teaching post was in Zimbabwe in a small village school called Chakohwa Secondary School. This taught me how to teach with action and little English as their mother tongue was Shona.
On the maths front in the last decade, I have taught mainly in schools local to me.
I have also taught in the public sector specifically at Christ's Hospital in Horsham, a Blue Coat school.
I enjoy swimming in the lakes here and I spend a lot of time cycling, climbing and bouldering too. My holidays tend to be sport focused typically climbing in the sun or cycle touring!

I'm Mary and would love to share the joy of maths and enable you to pass your exams too.
Lessons are an hour long and are for all maths students: A level Maths, A/S Further Maths, GCSE Maths and all Key Stages.
I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher and have been tutoring for over a decade.
My style
It's like building Lego. A firm footing gives the rest of the building a foundation to develop from. Plenty of activities and games, lots of concrete learning with blocks, counters, coins gives an emphasis on number work and the rest follows.
My experience allows me to provide sessions that develop in difficulty that matches the confidence levels, hence giving that lovely feeling of success when you have answered a question that you thought was just out of your ability!
