About Dave
I have a strong academic background, being a philosophy graduate from the University of Durham and I also have a strong creative sense, having originally studied Photography and graphic design. I also write and perform poetry and act, as well as composing and performing digital music. I enjoy a very high standard of technical and It skills, with experience in coding, programming and web design.
All of my lessons are designed by myself and are specifically tailored to the needs of the individual learner. They are interesting, informative, fun and most importantly, effective.

I am a native English speaker from London. I’m fully qualified with over 20 years experience as an Ielts Examiner, Corporate Language Trainer, Associate Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes and Teacher Trainer.
I have worked in universities, colleges of further education, private language schools, training centres and on in-company projects for leading international companies including Maersk, Agfa, Alstrom, Banque d'Espagne, and Adidas not only in the UK but also in The Czech Republic, Italy, Qatar, Spain and China.
I use an integrated approach to language learning which will help you to quickly improve in all four key skills, speaking, listening, writing, and reading and to communicate more effectively in the world of business, in the workplace, in your studies and in your social life.
After a thorough needs analysis and discussion of your learning objectives we will design a programme of study ideally suited to your needs employing a range of learning activities including:
• intensive input sessions in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
• guided conversation practice with feedback and correction
• role play and visualisations
I also offer practical help with things such as:
• exam preparation (Ielts, FCE, CAE, CPE, Bulats, CEFR)
• writing c.v.’s and cover letters
• communicating by telephone
• interview techniques
• taking part in meetings
• writing emails and reports
• delivering presentations
• writing essays and preparing for examinations
• socialising and making small talk
