About Alexander
I am a History graduate who has recently completed their PGCE in secondary History. I not only have a fervent passion for my subject, but more importantly I am strongly motivated by helping others. Whilst my primary subject is History, I am also adept in Politics, English Literature and Religious Studies and would therefore be able to assist in these subjects. My experience in teaching has showcased my ability to work long hours and a willingness to put my students first, so I can guarantee an enthusiastic commitment to my work.
With regards to my teaching style, it is largely discussion based. Whilst I think there is a specific time and place for a more didactic approach, I have a greater affinity for asking questions of my pupils to give them the initiative within the learning process. This is paramount in a subject such as History, where its subjective nature demands thorough analysis in order to formulate judgements. Of course, History not only requires content knowledge but also writing technique, and this is an area that I can confidently assist with, having become well accustomed to essay writing during my time at university.
Whilst I do not have any one to one tutoring experience, having worked as a teacher from September 2019-March 2020 I have vast experience in managing pupils’ work on a one to one basis.
