About Shervonne
I am a qualified foundation phase educator with 7 years teaching experience, teaching children from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds and varied abilities. From my experience I have learnt that all children are individuals and should thus be taught as such. All children learn differently and not all childrens needs can be properly met in a classroom situation of 30 children. I have a passion for children and helping them reach their own personal best whether it be teaching them new concepts or re-enforcing what they already know by using different teaching strategies. The early school years are the fundamental building blocks needed to lay a solid and firm foundation which can be built on throughout their school careers. I feel it is important to develop a love for learning early on by helping children over any hurdles they might be facing. My main focus areas are Maths as number concept is of vital importance as well as English where I enjoy reading and phomenic awareness as well as comprehension. One cannot learn if they do not understand what they are reading.

I have taught in the foundation phase for 7 years specializing in grade 1. I have found that teaching methods vary and are based on each childs specific needs and abilities. Some children learn practically or concretely, some visually and others auditively. Therefore one cannot use the same method for each child. I have taught children who cannot understand or speak English and take pride in giving each child a quality education as I myself am a profectionist and give my all when it comes to education.
