About Neil
Hello! I am Neil and I am a professional English teacher. Both my bachelors and masters degrees are in English language and teaching English. I've increased this knowledge through regular training and learning the science of language and the art of teaching.
Never trust a teacher who does not love learning!
All of this means I not only know what to say (like any other native speaker) but I can also explain why. Knowing a language is more than just words and grammar. The science of language includes sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, phonology, and phonetics.
We learn our first language in a very different way to any additional languages we learn. If you are interested in the "why" and want to use your scientific brains to understand the English language better - then you'll definitely enjoy my lessons.

My lessons focus on academic communicative competence. You're not going to learn the English needed for holidays in the UK, the US, or Australia. Rather you will learn to find your academic voice so that your writing, and your speaking, will help you succeed academically. This may mean postgrad admissions, test preparation (IELTS), thesis / dissertation writing, academic publishing, or presenting at conferences.
