As a qualified and experienced English teacher, I bring over five years of classroom experience and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. My one-to-one online lessons are structured to be highly personalised, interactive and focused entirely on the individual student. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt each lesson to the student’s current ability, learning style and specific goals.
A typical 60-minute lesson would follow this structure:
1. Starter & Progress Check (5–10 minutes)
We begin by reviewing previous learning, checking understanding and identifying anything the student may be finding challenging.
2. Teaching & Modelling (15–20 minutes)
I introduce the key skill or topic for the lesson using clear explanations, examples and modelling. I encourage students to ask questions throughout so that we can address any areas of uncertainty immediately.
3. Guided Practice (15–20 minutes)
We work through activities or exam-style questions together. I gradually reduce the support as the student becomes more confident, allowing them to apply the skills independently.
4. Independent Application (10–15 minutes)
The student completes a task independently, allowing me to assess their understanding and provide targeted feedback. For exam preparation, this may involve analysing a text, planning an answer or completing a timed exam-style response.
5. Feedback & Next Steps (5 minutes)
We finish by discussing what the student has achieved, identifying one or two key areas to continue working on and setting a clear focus for the next lesson.
As an experienced and qualified English teacher with 5 years of teaching experience, my online lessons are designed to feel like a genuine one-to-one classroom experience, with plenty of interaction, questioning, discussion and immediate feedback.
Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to improve their grades, is preparing for an important examination or simply wants to become more confident in English, each lesson will be adapted to help them make measurable progress.
